Little Bu: nail polish that is safe for kids!

Hello once again to all of you wonderful people, and of course a big thank you for the incredible support you are continuing to show for the Fancy Kids brand. It seems that with each week that passes we are even more astounded at the level of interest we are receiving from customers and people who are intrigued about our story and ethos as a business. It is this interest and support that provides such inspiration for us to write our weekly blog, where with each entry we aim to inform you, our readers and followers, a little more about our own ethical beliefs in what we do and increase your awareness of other fantastic brands we believe in also.

With that in mind, we are focusing our fourth blog instalment on an area we feel incredibly passionate about, the importance of buying and using non-toxic products on children, and in particular we want to introduce Little Bu to you all, a fantastic brand who sell only non-toxic nail polish and vanish.

Established by the inspirational Patricia Dente Haimes, who as a beauty publicist in New York developed a deep knowledge of the fashion and cosmetics industry through helping to launch campaigns for the likes of Estee Lauder and Chanel. Now a London resident, her experience of living and working in two of the greatest cities in the world allowed her to notice younger girls were beginning to visit beauty salons for manicures and pedicures far more regularly in groups or with their mothers. This awareness provided Patricia with the foundation for her brand’s identity, as she very quickly understood the need to develop a nail polish and varnish that is perfect for younger girls to use. Thus Little Bu are unique and innovative in creating odourless, non-toxic nail polish that is not only completely safe for the younger crowd, but provides such a beautiful finish it transcends age ranges, being enjoyed on pampering days by mother and daughter alike. People like Patricia and brands like Little Bu push us more every day to press on with our own commitment to furthering a more ethical practice within children’s fashion. In this sense, the need to highlight a greater need for non-toxic products is now greater than ever.

Children rely on us in all manner of ways, and so it is vital we all take responsibility and the necessary precautions when purchasing products to use on their skin, as young children are far more vulnerable than adults to high toxins. It is very easy to take for granted how everything from the silicone nipple of a baby’s bottle to even fun products like bubble bath can contain potentially harmful chemicals.

This isn’t to say we should completely stop any element of fun for our children for fear of harming them. There are though huge steps we can all take as a society to progress with our attitudes in this area. Little Bu are a fantastic example of this. A brand able to promote an ethos centred on creating non-toxic products that still look great on the lucky child using them. These are the types of inspirational attitudes and brands us at Fancy Kids will continue to source and work with, and if any of you can find anymore brands who share these ethics, please feel free to let us know.

In the meantime, we look forward to sharing our fifth blog with you next week when we will be looking at cashmere, a material that is highly sought after for its fashionable look and high quality fabric. Have a great week until then!
