MEET 'ROCK THE GOAT'
Hello, Bonjour, Hola, greetings and thank you in all languages to everyone who has connected with us through the Fancy Kids blog! One of the benefits of having a strong online presence is being able to communicate with people from all over the world, meaning we get to practice our language skills and learn about the different influences and approaches of the international designers we work with.
Thus this week in a slightly different manner to what we’ve presented to you up to now, we wanted to share the thoughts of one of the designers we are passionate about. We interviewed Malin Lundberg Mueller, the founder of the fantastic Rock The Goat children’s fashion company we are proud to be working closely with. We spoke in depth about cashmere, the material that is central to all Rock The Goat designs, and as Malin told us “RTG source the best fabric directly from the Mongolian Cashmere goat,” we realised the true talent of those lovely animals in producing high quality milk, cheese, and jumpers!
Based in Malin’s native Sweden but with all their products being designed just outside of Florence in Italy, Rock The Goat embody everything their founder stands for, and as their website describes the brand produces the perfect “blend of Scandinavian coolness and italian luxury.” As Malin emphasised how “cashmere is the noblest fabric in the world and of course we want our children to have the best,” we understood this is a lady with a clear and inspiring vision who won’t accept anything less than the best. She immediately went on further to say “we do not want customers that are paying a fair amount of money to be disappointed with the quality,” showing a great attitude towards producing quality products that mirrors own ethos at Fancy Kids.
After all cashmere is such a beautiful fabric, but even better is the fact it is environmentally sustainable. It gets to this point through a number of stages, beginning with the farmer whose goats are sheared for their wool ensuring his animals are completely healthy and his land they graze on is fertile. Malin highlighted to us the close knit and trusted relationships she relies upon in this way, describing how “we do all of our production with a few carefully selected suppliers outside Florence. Amazing family businesses with thorough cashmere expertise and craftsmanship.” As well as the fantastic foundations upon which Rock The Goat is built, let us not forget that above all else cashmere looks so incredibly good on people! And especially on children! This is why it’s such a sought after fabric around the world and those wearing it always seem to exuberate a sense of effortless chic. Malin completely understands this herself, confirming “the Rock The Goat wearer is confident and a true citizen of the world.”
The success of Malin and her brand is a result of a non-stop work ethic, laughing as she tells “I can never switch off, the other day I was in a cool concept store in the Middle East and saw the most amazing cactus display on a wooden table, loved the colour combination, hence why my iPhone is always full of sometimes rather awkward notes and images!” We couldn’t agree more, our phones are filled with similar things we’ve snapped in passing and been inspired by! As we said a big thank you to Malin for sharing her time with us, her ambition and drive to always strive for perfection has only pushed us at Fancy Kids to work even harder to source more designers with similar attitudes to Rock The Goat and ourselves. See you next week and thanks for reading!
