5 Unique Destinations for your Family Holiday

The summer season has arrived, which means you’re probably planning your perfect family getaway. A holiday with the kids is a great opportunity to relax, have fun and spend some quality time together. However, travelling with children is not always easy. There are so many things to consider when you have little ones in tow. As a result, many parents opt for a fail-safe destination, or somewhere they’ve visited many times before.

A family holiday doesn’t have to be predictable though. If you want to go somewhere a little more unique and inspiring this summer, here are five unusual yet totally child-friendly destinations you’ll love.

Sweden

Sweden is one of the best places in the world to travel with kids and a great choice for a summer holiday with a difference. The whole county is extremely family-friendly and many of the attractions and sights are set up with children in mind, offering free admission for youngsters. You’ll find an abundance of museums, green spaces and a petting zoo in Stockholm, while Gothenburg is home to the country’s biggest amusement park.

Italian Coast

Many families go to sunny Spain for their family holiday, but have you considered taking your kids to the Italian Coast instead? In places such as Puglia or the Amalfi Coast, you’ll be able to enjoy the same beautiful Mediterranean weather and beaches while experiencing a whole new county and culture. Plus, with cuisine that includes pizza, pasta and gelato, you’ll have no problem finding food for even fussy little eaters.

Burma

If you’re open to long-haul travelling with kids, Burma is a wonderful choice for families. This amazing South East Asian country has lots to offer, including incredible scenery, beautiful beaches and a rich culture. Children will love spending the day splashing around in the sea or exploring the jungle, where you can often spot monkeys and elephants. Plus, Burmese people adore children and will shower your little one with attention.

Borneo

Another great destination for little animal lovers is Borneo, so why not plan a rainforest adventure for your family? In Borneo, you and your children can meet orangutans up close in their natural habitat; a truly once-in-a-lifetime experience that you’ll never forget. Borneo is generally considered a safe destination for families with many child-friendly accommodation options available.

Western USA

Florida is one of the most popular family holiday destinations in the world, but for a more unusual trip why not head to America’s Wild West? States such as Montana, Arizona and Colorado still have working ranches where families can stay and learn all about life as a cowboy. Fun child-friendly activities include horse riding, line dancing and camping in a traditional teepee tent.
