Interview with Jennifer Scetbon

This week we are interviewing Jennifer Scetbon, the founder of Tokola London. What is Tokola London? As they like to describe it :"At Tokola, we partner with selective brands that have a story to tell, use a true savoir-faire and encapsulate a home lifestyle. We put all our energy and knowledge to build long lasting relationships to develop brands momentum."

Now that we caught your interest let's have a read and find out more

How did Tokola London start?

After 5 years working days and night in Paris in a major advertising company, I thought it was time to change so I moved to London, started by agency company. Everything was new to me, the city, the culture, the job, the industry .. it was a good challenge!

What inspired you to start your lifestyle agency?

Feeling good is not only about what you eat and how often you move; it is also where you live, the objects that are surrounding you in your home – from a book, a vase, tea towels, a smell …

How do you select the brands you represent?

We develop brands that share a story of authenticity and savoir-faire.

Are there any requirements that a brand has to meet in order to achieve success? What is the role of trends in this?

Trends are important even more when you have 2 collections per year; it goes fast; you can’t miss a season! But you have to stay true to your brand identity, you must have a red line each season otherwise there is no connection. No identity.

Interior design plays a big role in the everyday life, could you please tell the blog readers about a trend that will play an important role in 2016?

It’s a mix authenticity with wood, solid oak, intemporal pieces spiced up with strong patterns like wax (African pattern).

What does the future hold for Tokola London?

Our expertise is taking us to a new path were we do sourcing and scouting for some very cool concept stores.

Your favourite concept store in London to find home accessories, care products…?

I like the Conran Shop because they are still setting the trends for the under-glass section; I like Future&Found for their interior selection and for another street style I like to look at the selection curated by Goodhood.

My hobby is to find new concept stores everywhere in the world; I pin them in google maps and when I get the chance to travel I already know where to go.

What’s your favourite care products from Fancy Kids?

Definitely ENFANCE PARIS. It’s a beautiful natural skincare collection for children. It’s smart, you can’t find a better quality, it’s beautiful and the smell is addictive.
